On Saints and Intercession
This sermon takes us deep into the book of Revelation to explore one of the most breathtaking truths in all of Scripture: that the prayers of the church on earth and the prayers of the saints in heaven are gathered together, mingled like incense, and presented before the Lamb who was slain. We are not a scattered collection of individuals praying in isolation. We are one church, one body, united across the boundary of death itself in the worship of one Lord. The vision John receives in Revelation 5 and 8 shows us golden vessels full of the prayers of the saints ascending before God, followed by divine action on the earth. This is not poetry. This is the mechanics of how God has chosen to accomplish His purposes in the world. As we reflect on what it means to gather around the altar, we are invited to reconsider the weight and the reach of every prayer we offer.
