Dear Parish,
Here is the list of voting members at Christ the King Anglican. These lists are often confusing, and sometimes can cause injury. “Why am I not on this list? And, what does that mean?” This list is comprised of individuals in the parish who are 1) Confirmed, 2) Baptized Members of CTK in good standing (meaning, they abide by the member commitments of Sunday attendance, regular Catechesis, Tithing, and are not under church discipline), 3) have been members of CTK for over one year, and 4) are 18 years of age or older.
Most of the time, a person doesn’t show up on this list because they are not yet Confirmed. We host a “Confirmation Cohort” every year for those who would like to learn more about this process. But, know that aside from the ability to vote on parish business and serving in official roles like Vestry, a non-Confirmed member of CTK is absolutely a member of this parish. They would be considered a “baptized member”. Time and again, we have emphasized that this is the primary membership of the Church. So, if you are not on this list because you are not confirmed, and that bothers you, please talk to me about it!
The other most common reason for not being on this list is that a person hasn’t been a member long enough. If you became a member after January 12, 2024, then your name won’t be on this list.
One other reason not mentioned is that we might be in error! This being only our third annual meeting, and our third publishing of a “roll”, it is possible that mistakes were made. If you feel that you should be on the list of voting members, please contact me directly.
A final note. You’ll notice that there are Incarnation Anglican members on this list. This is because our daughter church plant, Incarnation Anglican Church in Canton, is not yet a parish or mission. Therefore, members of IAC are “housed” within the membership of CTK. They are full voting members of our church.
